Field Technician
Matsa Resources Limited is seeking an experienced technician to join its mining team at Lake Carey.
The position will primarily be based at Matsa’s Lake Carey operations. Accommodation on site is provided in a modern 60-room camp. This is a fly in fly out role 8:6 or 2:2 (weeks) ex Perth.
The successful person will form part of a small team involved in exploration and drilling support activities at the Devon Pit gold mine. The team is also evaluating a number of other nearby gold deposits with a view to near term mine development. This is an exciting time for Matsa as it continues to develop a number of projects in this highly gold endowed region, as part of its successful growth strategy.
Role Description:
In this role, the Field Technician will be expected to carry out a variety of tasks depending on project priorities, typically these would include:
- Sampling of RC and aircore drillholes
- Sample dispatch and reporting
- Upkeep of sample registers
- Coreyard management and all duties of diamond drill core processing including mark-up, core cutting, sampling & despatch
- Arrange and assist as necessary drill pad layout and preparation
- Assist geology team as needed in daily exploration and site support tasks
Required Skills and Attributes:
- Must be experienced in processing core, core cutting, sampling and despatch
- Recent relevant experience in the mining industry
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivated and energetic
- Able to work in a small team in a remote area
- Ability to use basic Microsoft Office software
- Current C Class drivers licence
- High risk licence for Forklift
- Police clearance
It would be an advantage if the applicant also has the following:
- Open pit experience
- A first aid certificate
- Experience operating IT
- Recognised certificates of competency in aspects of health and safety
Final confirmation of the successful applicant will be subject to a pre-employment medical examination which will include drug and alcohol screening.
